About Us

Our Ashiana’s journey began in 2010, inspired by a young adult diagnosed with Autism and Severe Global Developmental Delay in the family.

Our Ashiana connotes the assimilation of children with special needs. “Special needs” are commonly defined by what a child is unable to perform normally — by growing up milestones unmet, restricted movement, activities avoided, experiences denied and so on.

We there fore strive to provide special children the privilege of acceptance, affection, understanding, comfort, education and remedy to be integrated back into the society as confident individuals.

We have now set up our first centre at Paldi, early intervention and one to one sessions with special educators and occupational therapists are provided.  This will also enable more children from diverse groups and ethnic backgrounds to avail facilities ranging from educational, recreational to integrating them back into mainstream playgroups and schools.  These children who are the “Gift Of God” are given educational inputs specific to each child’s individual needs. The methods adopted conform to scientific and behavioural therapies.

Besides this, medical support in the form of physio therapy and occupational therapy is also imparted to strengthen their fine and gross motor development and physical abilities. Recreational activities, field trips, speech and language therapy, music and dance therapies too form a part of our endeavours to integrate these special children into the mainstream society. We also provide for Botox injections and Surgical correction for children with cerebral palsy.

At present we are also reaching out to the special children through our other NGO partners like Prabhat Education Foundation via our Community Based Rehabilitaion Program. in Lambha Ward. Our Ashiana is not restricted to a building.
